Living as a guest in a Guatemalan home gives you a unique opportunity to completely immerse yourself in the Spanish language AND culture. You share all your meals with the family and practicing speaking with the family members makes a huge difference in how fast you are able to learn Spanish – you are practically living the language, allowing you to get a deeper comprehension of the usage of it.

CDL Spanish School works with excellent families in Antigua, making sure that you get the best attention and care possible in a genuine Guatemalan environment. Our families have plenty of experience in receiving foreign students and know very well how to look after you:

• There is usually 1-4 students in each family (in low season).
  
• You will have your private room, unless you request otherwise.
  
• Most families have a shared bathroom for the students.
  
• You always get your on key. There is no curfew: you come and go as you please.
  
• All homestays are within comfortable walking distance from the school, about 5-15 minutes.
  
• Your family will cook for you three times a day: break-fast, lunch and dinner. Typically breakfast is eggs or pancakes or cereal, lunch is the heartiest meal of the day and dinner is light.
  
• All families have warm running water and electricity, being from a Guatemalan middle-class background. Your room will have as minimum standard a bed with sheets, a table and chair, a lamp and a wardrobe or dresser. Many houses also have an outdoor patio or terrass.
