MEDICINA - MEDICAL SPANISH PROGRAMMEDICINA is the perfect program for you who are practicing or planning to practice medicine: nurses, doctors, dentists, EMTs, medical students and pre-meds. It is also very suitable for somebody working in public health. You study Spanish, with focus on medical terminology, 4 hours per day, with a private instructor. On top of that you will be exposed to the health system in a typical developing country through observational visits to health-related development projects, public and private clinics (approx 20 hours). You will also have a Service Learning placement (3 week program: 30 hrs or 4 week program: 50 hrs), at a clinic or a project, where you have the unique opportunity to observe and help out in a medical Spanish speaking environment. You should have at least a high-beginner level of Spanish before starting the MEDICINA program, otherwise you should consider taking 1-2 weeks of one of our regular Spanish Programs beforehand. “Awesome introduction to health care in Guatemala. I got a lot out of my individual classes. It was definitely helpful to have the medical focus and a great volunteering project”Leah Honigman |
